Tech — Mobile Apps

An app, only if you actually need one.

The most valuable thing we do in app projects is occasionally tell a client that a fast mobile website would serve them better and cost a fifth as much.

The problem

Why this usually goes wrong.

Apps are justified by frequency. If a customer interacts with you weekly, an app can earn its place on their home screen. If it is twice a year, it will be deleted after the first update prompt.

When an app is right, the risk is scope. We ship a genuinely useful first version and expand it against real usage rather than a wishlist written before launch.

What's included

Everything in the engagement.

No line items discovered halfway through. This is the scope, written down before we start.

01

Product definition

The core job, the first-version scope, and an explicit list of what is deliberately excluded.

02

UX & UI design

Platform-native patterns rather than a website in a wrapper.

03

Cross-platform build

One codebase for iOS and Android where it suits; native where performance demands it.

04

Backend & APIs

Secure services, authentication and integration with your existing systems.

05

Store submission

App Store and Play Store listings, review handling and phased rollout.

06

Analytics & iteration

Retention and funnel instrumentation from version one.

What you get

Deliverables, itemised.

  • Product scope and roadmap
  • Interactive prototype
  • iOS and Android applications
  • Backend services and documentation
  • Store listings and assets
  • Analytics dashboard
  • Source code and full ownership
How it runs

Four phases, dated.

01

Define

The one job the app does. Everything else is a candidate for version two.

02

Prototype

A clickable prototype tested with real users before any code is written.

03

Build

Two-week increments with a working build you can install at the end of each.

04

Release

Phased store rollout, monitored crash rates, then iteration against actual usage.

Questions

Answered before you ask.

Do we really need an app?
Only if usage is frequent and there is a genuine need for offline access, push or device hardware. We will say so if a progressive web app is the better answer.
React Native or native?
Cross-platform for most business applications; native when you need heavy graphics, complex device integration or absolute performance. We recommend based on your case, not our preference.
How much does an app cost?
A focused first version typically starts in the mid seven figures in rupees. We scope in phases so you can stop after version one if the usage data does not justify more.
Who owns the code and the store listings?
You do. Developer accounts are created in your company name from the start.
